Sophie von Stumm is Professor of Psychology in Education at the University of York. She studies the causes and consequences of individual differences in lifespan cognitive development. Using new assessment technologies that enable collecting big, high-quality data, Sophie’s research focuses in particular on three areas: (1) the effects of early life environments on children’s cognitive and verbal development; (2) the role of investment personality traits like curiosity and imagination for adult intellect; and (3) the relationship between genome-wide polygenic scores and educational attainment. Sophie von Stumm is a Jacobs Foundation Research Fellow 2017-2019.
